Ava came to me maybe a 1 1/2 before this in home session, at my Libertyville studio. She was full of joy and still is. Ava’s parents wanted some shots of their everyday life in their home. It was pretty inspiring to see all that is their everyday. What an amazing little girl and family. So strong and thankful for every step forward.
Chantille graciously gave me some details about Ava and her life for this blog post. Here is a little bit about their families trials, triumphs and blessings:
“Ava Shai was born a micro-preemie on March 10, 2014 at 24 weeks gestation weighing in at 1 lb 8 oz and 11 inches long. She suffered a Grade 3 & 4 brain bleed from such an extreme birth and resided at Lutheran General Hospital’s NICU for a 176 days. Her first 3 months where in an incubator and while in the NICU she overcame many obstacles such at PDA ligation (heart surgery), 3 NEC (Necrotizing Enter Colitis) in which Ava Shai had 4 inches of her intestine removed along with her Ileocecal valve. She also had multiple eye surgeries. This miracle experienced two moments where she cheated death.
On March 18, 2015, Ava Shai was diagnosed with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy due from the brain bleeds at birth. She has very limited use of her arms and legs. The C.P. has also delayed her speech, fine and gross motor skills. She has 10 pieces of equipment that are used daily for her therapy and independent play. She sees 4 independent therapists and attends a special needs school 5 days a week to help build her skills to be independent. This little girl at 3 years of age has overcome more in short lifetime than most do in one full lifetime. Her father works very hard to support the family and her mother left her career on Ava Shai’s first birthday to dedicate her time to make Ava Shai the best she can be.
She’s destined to do great things!”-Chantille J.(Ava’s Mom)
Technology has come a long way over the years, man, this devices are pretty awesome! Something to help her sit and read; to help her stand for activities and something to help her walk (her favorite of the three). Just look at her sitting next to the picture of herself just born, just amazing, she’s has come so far and is doing so great. <3
This little stinker made me WORK for my money! She was like, no touch-y… But she did love being wrapped up nice and snug. I love getting some awake shots if they are happy, I mean, how adorable is she!? Those lips are so beautiful.
She fought for an impressive amount of time, but when she knocked out we made magic. <3
Such a perfect, tiny, little thing. 6 pounds right there!
Welcomed by all. So, so loved. We had to get some shots with Auntie and Grandma since they were there and looking photo-ready.
Capturing these raw and intimate first moments of life is so amazing, Here is Kyle less than 24 hours old and completely adored. If you have a little one on the way, consider having those first moments documented and saved forever. It’s so crazy to see how quickly they change. Get these images in the best quality. Don’t settle for poorly lit cell phone photos of the moment that will change life forever. The rush of emotion going through a room after baby has arrived is definitely something to remember, even if you feel like you’ve just been run over by a truck and have no desire to leave your bed. You will love these photos later and so will your little one when they are old enough to understand.
These sessions are very simple and unposed.
Most ladies, including myself, wish they looked as beautiful as Danielle after giving birth. Beautiful Momma and little bundle. Pretty like Momma.
Tiny little toes. Kyle’s beautiful newborn session up next. She did so great. Pinks and girly-ness galore. My very last session at the Studio Share, I will miss that studio. 🙁
I did Ellie’s birth announcement, her newborn photos and now her cake smash! I love seeing my little, tiny clients grow. She’s so adorable. Momma wanted to do a Rainbow theme for her cake smash so here’s what we came up with! Color galore!
By the way, this awesome stool is from Target!
Fun, sweet and simple cake! SPRINKLES!! YES!
She was unsure about making a big mess. It was clear that she was thinking, ‘I really, really want to, but should I!? After some assurance from Mom, she dug in!
Lucia is the only girl of 4. I think that makes her pretty special! She is very much the typical 2 year old, so I had to move fast to get my shots! She’s a little stinker, but she’s a beautiful one. She reminds me of my daughter when she was two, simply does not want to stay still. In constant motion! <3
Got some shots with brother also and some of him alone. He was so sweet. I believe he was 9 months here. Such a fun age full of giggles and drool!
This is Ava! She came to see me when she turned 1 and we had an epic cake smash session! She is such a fun and happy little girl! I was so excited that I got to do her 2nd birthday photos too. She wore this beautiful little dress, she looked like a little princess.
Mom wanted to set up a little tea party for her and her favorite, Elmo. It turned out so cute and Ava did not want to stop playing. So many adorable shots of her being the most gracious host! 😉
This gorgeous momma was so ready at this point! You know, that point of the pregnancy when you’re like, LETS DO THIS THANG! A perfect little girl was born not many days after this session; her name is Neaveh.
We just had their newborn session and those images are adorable as well. She is just the sweetest, tiny thing. 6 pounds of beauty and spunk. She has the most beautiful hair, skin and lips! Stay tuned for those images!

Shooting baby bumps and baby’s never gets old for me. Such a beautiful thing the beginning of a life is. This little bundle will be making her appearance so soon! Her name is Kyle, yes HER! Hehe, a beautiful and unexpected choice!
Danielle’s belly is so perfect and she is one gorgeous momma. This black and white one is a favorite of mine! The shadows, that belly button and Danielle’s long back hair, so beautiful.
Can’t help but imagine their baby girl with a head full of black hair! Luckily, I’ll be there for her very first breath! So excited to capture that amazing moment.
This is Rhett and what a lil’ chunk he is! He has the most beautiful lips and skin.
He was just so sweet to snuggle. This is pretty much the best job ever!
One request from Dad was a shot on his guitar and it turned out pretty awesome! <3
