Rocco | Skagit Newborn Session

Skagit Newborn Session

Welcome to the work sweet baby Rocco! Rocco was very generous with sleep and snuggles for his session. We ordered him the cutest lil’ hat from Knots. He was basically adorable in it.

Skagit Newborn Session

I love when I get awake shots. Sometimes they are so precious.

Momma wanted to stick to mostly neutrals so we did a lot of browns and creams. He looks so perfect in neutrals.

And of course I knitted him a wrap and bonnet and took this lil’ man outside!

Despite mom and dad being gorgeous they opted out of parent shots, but here is their maternity session!

I’m so thankful for all the photographers that are so willing to share information and tricks! I wanted to share the Kelly Brown channel with you all if you haven’t found her already. Photographers that are forever learning like me or the aspiring photographers will be all over this! I’m always looking for new, fun videos to watch that can inspire me or teach me something new about newborn photography, so I was excited to find this channel! Go ahead, learn a thing or two from her!

The best way to learn is to do, but lets not forget that learning someone that has lived and experience what you strive to master is vital! Kelly is a pro for sure. Her images are amazing and exactly what I strive for every session and her videos are full of awesome tips!

This is Mishae and her guys! We got pretty lucky with the weather it was so gorgeous and the smoke hadn’t set in yet so we still got a nice golden sunset. Pretty sure the his is my favorite location now. Thanks UW. <3

To be inspired is to grow. There are so many photographers that I’ve found that have inspired me and taught me everything I know! I wanted to share some of these amazing photographers, if only for you all to have some lovely work to follow!

In no particular order here are some of my heroes in the photography industry and what I love about them and how they run their businesses…

Penguin Pictures is the closest to me, here in WA and I absolutely love following their beautiful images. They are consistent in their style and the content they post and blog. That is something that I strive to be! Check them out, the PNW isn’t too bad as a backdrop either!

Twig and Olive is probably my favorite family and wedding photographer though Sarah Beth is right there too! They also have a very consistent style in their images, which is impressive since there are 3 photographers. Their blog posts always tell a story which helps hold the viewers interest in seeing their images.

Rachel Vanoven has been a huge playing in the photography industry since, like, forever. She has so much wisdom to offer and does so flawless and with tact. I’ve purchased many things from her and am inspired by everything from her blog to her personal work!

I love Sara Beth’s work and her presests/actions, the perfect combination of matte and contrast. I love following her work, she has mastered making her site beautiful and functional. Hopefully I can have a social media presence that is up to par someday!

Sandra Hill is another newborn photographer I’ve followed for a long time. Her work is always leaps and bounds above others. Just perfection. I see her work everywhere mostly because venters want to use her images for advertisements, but her presence is huge! I’m inspired by all things Sandra Hill!

This is Me | Skagit Photographer

Skagit Photographer

So, this is me. So far this life has taken me in many different directions, but I’ve ended up back here in WA basically where my ‘adult’ life began. I’ve spent many years here before moving back here as a Navy Sailor. This part of my life will always define me a special way. I know I would not have become who I am without having that experience.

When I was done with my service I found myself becoming obsessed with photography. I wanted to capture every moment with my kids and I wanted it captured ‘right.’ In a way that told a story and that wasn’t blurry (which proved to be difficult with kids when I was first learning ).

 Skagit Photographer

Eventually I didn’t leave the house without my camera. That was the only way that I really learned and I think it’s the best way for anyone to learn, by doing. Photography can be kinda nerdy, but once you start seeing what each function does in every situation, things fall into place.

 Skagit Photographer

It’s been 7 years since I first picked up a camera and I’m in deep! 😉 I love capturing my family and all the families that hire me. I feel so honored to be trusted with something so important as memories.

 Skagit Photographer

Capturing the exciting and the ‘mundane’ is all important, it’s all beautiful. It’s the little things that are so easily forgotten, the bath times, the baking messes, the splashing in mud.

 Skagit Photographer

Another thing that has been so awesome over these 7 years are the friends I’ve made. Other nerdy photographers! Whether you’re a client looking for a passionate photographer or a photographer looking for a friend that is just a weird as you, I’m here for you!

Mia | Whidbey Island, WA Newborn Photographer

Whidbey Island, WA Newborn Photographer

This is Mia. Mia’s daddy was deployed when she was born on Father’s Day. He was lucky enough to get some leave to come home to meet her and spend time with her. It’s obvious she already has him wrapped around her tiny little pinky. <3

Whidbey Island, WA Newborn Photographer

Mia was so good, and I love her birthmark.

Whidbey Island, WA Newborn Photographer

All that hair!! Simply gorgeous.

Whidbey Island, WA Newborn Photographer

The neutrals were just magic with her and so was pink. I loved snuggling her.

Such a beautiful family.

Nina | Lynnwood, WA Newborn Photographer

Lynnwood, WA Newborn Photographer

Oh, hello Nina. You are pure perfection. Just could not get over how beautiful she is. Look at all that hair.

Lynnwood, WA Newborn Photographer

Mommy wanted yellow for her sunshine baby and it’s kinda perfect with her skin! Nina was not interested in sleeping if she wasn’t wrapped up, but look how intensely she watched the camera! So adorbs.

Lynnwood, WA Newborn Photographer

We did a few different setups all wrapped up and they turned out so sweet.

Lynnwood, WA Newborn Photographer

I knitted this little bonnet and wrap just for her. :::bows::: Thank you, thank you. 😉 Pretty proud of it.

Lynnwood, WA Newborn Photographer

These parent shots and family shots are some of my absolute favorite! They are just so beautiful. And we even got a little smile for the momma shots.

Lynnwood, WA Newborn Photographer

Nina loves her Grandma.

I love a good 3 generation shot. <3

Notie had a swaddle wrap that read, “For this child I prayed.” She wanted to use it in a shot and I kinda love how it turned out!

Mila | Seattle Newborn Photographer

Little Mila was so good for her session. We kept things simple and classic for this session and it turned out so beautiful.

Seattle Newborn Photographer

It helps that she is so beautiful.

Pretty in soft pink.

Their backyard was so nice we decided to use it for the family shots! We got lucky with a cloudy day that help defuse the mid day sun giving us perfect soft light.

And baby makes FOUR. <3

This session was done ‘in-home.’ Ask me about my traveling studio! Sometimes that last thing you want to do after having a baby is leave your house. I’ll come to you and I’ll bring my ‘studio!’

Roozengaarde is the destination in the Spring here in WA! It really can’t get any better than fields and fields of color infront of mountains. It’s not surprising this adorable couple was willing to drive up from seattle to experience it and get their maternity photos there.

Skagit Tulips Photographer

We got lucky with with the weather, it was a beautiful day and we hung out until the sun set.

This shot is just adorable (directly below), baby was kicking like crazy. She loved the tulips too. <3 They are the cutest. They will be the sweetest parents!

The Truest Love | Skagit County, WA Maternity, Family Photographer

Skagit County, WA Maternity, Family Photographer

Skagit County, WA Maternity, Family Photographer

My mother always told me that I would never understand how much you can love someone, how much she loves me, until I have children of my own. I would just brush it off and think, ‘Meh, love is love, I know what love is.’ I grew up and experienced many different kinds of love and heart break. Then I met my future husband and found an amazing unconditional love. Our love, as unique and special as it is, cannot be compared to the love I have for my babies.

Skagit County, WA Maternity, Family Photographer

My mother is right, it’s so different. A love like no other. A love that makes you want to be the best person you can be. A love that makes you feel like you can do anything, because you want them to know that they can do anything, be anything. Something about being someone’s everything, their world, changes you. All the choices you make suddenly revolve around your children and not much else.

Skagit County, WA Maternity, Family Photographer

Not only would I not understand how much my mother loved me until I had kids, but I would not understand how much I loved my mother until I had kids. It’s like I finally ‘get’ her. I understand why she was so overprotective, why she always wanted us to be careful and think, ‘what if’ in every situation. She couldn’t bear the idea of anything horrible happening to us, I understand that feeling now. You are given these precious, amazing gifts and you want to do anything and everything in your power to protect them. Thank you mom, for loving us like that. I think we(your children) all ‘get it’ now. Now that we have found this love too. I’m so thankful we have this time in our lives together. I’m so thankful to have a mom like you. A wise and beautiful friend for life that will love me like no other person will ever love me. The truest love, the love of a mother.

That’s my momma <3
